Trial Lake

A week or so ago (August 21-23) we went camping to Trial Lake with my family. (All of my sisters and their families came and Grandma and Grandpa, both of my brothers were unable to come.) Our second camping trip with our kids and tent trailer. We had a lot of fun during the day, and some stressful nights. It got pretty cold at nights. I was worried about my kids being warm and about my kids crying a waking others up at night, so I did not get much sleep. My kids sleep really well at home, but sometimes in different environments they do not do as well.

On Friday, August 22, we celebrated Uncle MJ's Birthday. We hope he had a good birthday.

We went on a little hike where we found a little pond with lots of water lilies on it. The lilies had really long stems that reached the bottom of the pond and were really spongy. Bob picked one each for the girls, and Grandpa picked one to take back to camp for Grandma. (Grandma was not feeling good, probably because of the altitude, so she did not go hiking with us.) Bob had to wade into the pond a little bit to get the lilies for the girls. I am glad that he did not fall in. What a great dad he is. Several of the cousins also picked some. We saw a beaver swimming across the pond.

We also spent some time kayaking. I do not think you could go camping with my family and not go kayaking. Some of the kids went fishing. The beach was very muddy, and the water was cold, so we did not get to play in the water other than in the kayaks.

Aunt B and Cousin BrM did a fun string maze for all of the cousins. They had to follow and roll up their string to the end of the maze.

It has been fun going camping this summer with our family, but it is always nice to go home and get all cleaned up.
