Enjoy Today: Happy 4th of July

We had a great 4th of July. It is one of my favorite holidays. We started out the day by going to two parades.

First we went to the Centerville parade, and then to the Kaysville parade. It is fun to go to the Centerville parade to see people that I grew up with. Unfortunately the parade has turned very commercial and a lot of the floats are promoting different local businesses.

Kaysville on the other hand is a lot of fun. It is a like one big party. We went with Bob's sisters and their families and my sister and her family and another niece. The kids had fun getting lots of candy and toys, including beaded necklaces, webkinz stuffed animals, Frisbees and a remote control helicopter. I even snagged two ties for Bob thrown by some "missionaries". After the parade they have a water parade. We do not like to participate in this part, but watch from a distance. It is just a giant water fight down Main Street. We were provided some extra entertainment when a parade watcher squirted a firefighter who was on a miniature firetruck with a clown. The firefighter then totally lost his temper and told the parade watcher that he was going to have him arrested for assault. I do not know what he expected when he was riding with a clown while everyone was waiting for the WATER PARADE to start.

After the parades we went home to take a long nap. Later that evening we went to my sister for a bbq where the excitement continued. As soon as we arrived everyone was waiting for the ambulance to get there.

My niece had been accidentally hit in the stomach, got the breath knocked out of her, and she stopped breathing. She was okay, but they still wanted her to be checked out.

We ended by doing our own fireworks. Some of my kids did not like them. We went to the Centerville Fireworks the night before where the girls liked the big fireworks, but G did not. He did not like the little ones either.
