Puget Sound

While in Washington we were able to visit the Puget Sound twice. Once with my cousin and her cute family who live in Washington and once with Melaina and Ben.

The first time we went we hiked a little around the Sound and did not get too close to the water because it was pretty muddy. (Fortunately when mud from beaches dry, it is just sand and brushes right off.) Melaina had told us that there were sand dollars all over the beach, but when we went I did not see any and told Melaina she was crazy.
When we went with Melaina and Ben I was proven wrong. We went a little closer to the water and there were tons of sand dollars. There were lots of living ones. I learned that the living ones were black and feel a little fuzzy. If you look really close in the picture you can see all of the sand dollars. There are a lot that are buried mostly in the sand, but you can see an edge of them.
I was surprised at how much my kids enjoyed the sound. They do not usually like getting wet and dirty. H especially does not like to get dirty, but she likes to hold weird things like bugs and apparently dead crabs and sand dollars.

Melaina gave G a sand dollar and he did not want to let it go. He clung to that thing the whole time and even tried to take a bite out of it.
